Last Rose of Summer

This morning I went to pick up the mail from our mailbox and saw "the last rose of summer" looking beautiful but somewhat wilted. For some reason the follow came into my mind. Hope you enjoy it.

LAST ROSE OF SUMMER

As the last rose of summer
she hangs her lovely head.
She wanted sunshine this morning,
but awoke to hoar frost instead.

She tried to lift her petaled face
but did not have the power.
As all her lovely petals fell,
and created a lovely shower.

She will rise again in the springtime,
and will bring joy to our hearts again,
In a fresh new season of hope,
that very soon will begin.

Don't be sad, Rose, lift up your face
to the Father and to the Son.
When we lift our hearts to Him
Our new life has begun.

What a lovely poem, thank you for sharing! The last couple carpet roses here faded a few weeks ago. I always look forward to their return in the spring!
