Last summer my sister had remarked to her children "I have never had a birthday party"! She turned 75 today.

Last Saturday her daughters, our niece and I had a surprise 75 birthday party for her. It was at the church she has attended all her life. The turn out was WONDERFUL! Estimated attendance was 100 people. Nieces, nephews and cousins came for other states, many old friends and her church family attended. She was so very surprised. We were having a problem finding someone to bake her birthday cake. A church member who is retired from a bakery called the Pastor's wife and said she wanted to make the cake! She did a beautiful job. The cake was large enough to serve 75 people.

Our color scheme was purple and gold and the fellowship hall looked beautiful. We had a sash made for her that said "BIRTHDAY GIRL" and bought her a matching tiara. She wore them throughout the party.

It as a lot of work but so very much worth the effort. On Monday (6/4)
she and I are going to Asheville, NC for a few days and tour the Biltmore House. She has never been there and I have only been there at Christmas. I am looking forward to seeing the gardens and the house when it is not decorated for Christmas.

This has been a very special birthday for her. Of course her daughters, our niece and I truly enjoyed it, too.
