Many foods which are safe for people and other animals should never be fed to our canine companions as they can make them sick, or worse. This list of foods includes the following items:

  • Apples, Apricots, Cherries, Peaches and Plums - the seeds, pits, and stems are all toxic (to both people and animals!)

  • Baking Soda
  • Caffeine (coffee, tea, etc.)
  • Chocolate
  • Citrus Oil
  • Dairy Products
  • Eggs (raw)
  • Fat Scraps
  • Fish (raw)
  • Garlic
  • Grapes / Raisins
  • Hops
  • Iron Supplements
  • Leeks
  • Macadamia Nuts
  • Some Mushrooms
  • Nutmeg
  • Onions
  • Persimmons
  • Potatos
  • Rhubarb
  • Salt
  • Sugar (or sugary foods)
  • Tomato and Potato Leaves and Stems
  • Yeast (or yeast based doughs)
  • Shallots
