    Default Spring Poem

I wrote this or spring/Easter several years ago. Easter is a Christian holiday and I hope no one is offended by me submitting it to this website.

    SPRING

    Spring, Spring, glorious, wonderful Spring,
Just thinking of it makes my heart sing.
The warm, sunny days and the budding tree,
They are a promise to you and to me.
The yellow daffodil is first to bloom,
To brighten our day, dispel our gloom.
Then other plants start to turn green,
A new one each day, or so it does seem.
Then all around us birds begin to sing,
Their song is saying "it's spring! it's spring!
Spring is the time of promise of life anew
It promises new life for me and for you.
In springtime Easter comes to signify,
That Christ came for us, and He would die.
He gave His life on the cruel, rugged cross,
For us His death was gain, not loss.
Just three days later He did arise,
Thinking of it brings tears to my eyes.
He came to die that we might live,
The most wonderful gift anyone could give.
We think of spring, we think of love,
The perfect gift from the Father above.
We can celebrate spring anytime and learn to live,
When our life, to Christ, we give.
On the day we ask him to forgive our sins,
We can celebrate spring, our new life begins.

Beautiful poem. It would look so nice on a greeting card. Thank you for sharing it with us.

    Beautiful.
    You should publish it

What a wonderful poem, mspete. I agree with Trudy, it would make a beautiful greeting card or poster.

Barb, the poem was published in a little community newspaper a few years ago. They have published three of my poems. One poem was published in "Wing World" magazine, a publication for Gold Wing motorcycle riders. I haven't written much in the last few years. I do write at least one every year which is for my best friend. She always seems to enjoy them even more than the gift that goes along with it. Thanks for the kind words.

I fear that I didn't do the poem justice, but here's a little something which I created in MS Publisher:

    Love Greeting Card

Here it is! A greeting card version of the poem (slightly updated, but very similar to the image above).

Simply print it out, and then fold in half. The yellow background was really pretty in the image, but it wasn't printing too well so I took it off. The card might still look pretty if printed on a very pale piece of yellow paper, though.
