    Question Grocery Shopping List

When doing the grocery shopping, I tend to buy many of the same types of items over and over again. Rather than typing up or writing down these items over and over week after week, I decided to get tech savvy about it and typed up a grocery list form which I can simply print out and stick on the fridge for ease of use. Also, since I tend to run out of things while cooking, the convenience factor may encourage me to check off what I need while I'm still thinking about it. If you're interested, I've attached my list to this message in a Microsoft Word format for easy use, customization, and printing. I hope you find it helpful!

I shop at Publix and their site offers a grocery list. Since I work mostly on my PC all day long, when I think of the things I need I add them to my list, which is stored on their website until I am ready to print. With this in mind I can compare the things I need with their specials for the week, sometimes even modify my list to accomodate some more affordable items..depending on those sale items featured. Just a thought as I like the one prepared here by Madclckr too!

I went to their site, looks like they have stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee. Unfortunately, looks like I'm a bit too far north (Washington, D.C. area), but it's an interesting idea!

Some of the stores out here have home delivery services, where you can create your shopping list on-line and then they'll gather the items and deliver them to you for under $10 (Giant Foods is one company which does this). I've never tried the service personally, but it seems like it would be convenient for those who don't have time to do the shopping themselves.

Thank you both for such a great idea. I get tired of writing the same things each time I have to shop. And sometimes, when I'm downstairs, by the time I get upstairs to write what I need, I've forgotten what to write. 'Curse of getting old....CRS get bad at times.

Now with either list I'll have some sanity left to try to remember something else.
I'm going to duplex the list so I can save paper and see what I purchase the week before.

This does sound like a great idea. Maybe someone here can offer some help for a problem I have with grocery shopping. My family tends to wait until the most inconvenient time to tell me what they need from the grocery store. IE: When I am just about ready to go to bed or as I am walking out the door for work. Any suggestions on "training" them to let me know what they need at a time when chances are I will remember it??!! I have gone as far as to tell them that I am going to the store tomorrow and ask if there is anything they need. They look at me like I am speaking a foreign language. But a few hours later, when I am just about ready to fall asleep, they seem to think up hundreds of things they want. LOL!!!

You could copy the grocery list Madclikr made and put it on the fridge. Tell them to check off what they need and put their initials next to it, and if it isn't on the front of the list, write it on the back. If it isn't checked and their initials aren't either when you go to the store, TOUGH!! Tell them you aren't listening to them anymore because the list is on the fridge. Then DO IT!!!!! It will only take a few times and they will learn, but you have to be tough and persistent.
Just recently my 11yo, misplaced her glasses. We have a jingle she uses to remember where to put them----If they're not on my face, they are in the case. Well, she didn't follow that. So, I told her she'd not have any movie or television time until she found them. She stormed, pouted, cried, and refused to look, but I stuck to what I said and after about 2 hours of silence, she started looking. Low and behold, she found them. She was happy and I was happy---ain't nobody happy unless Mama's happy!. The television viewing was returned and she's wearing them right now.

I couldn't agree with Trudy more! Write it on the list or do without it. If it's that important to them, they'll do it.....and it saves you so much time and energy (as well as mental power trying to remember everything)! .......now.....just don't misplace the list.....maybe you need a jingle

I agree as well, just tell 'em to put it on the list. My only concern about writing things on the back would be whether or not you'd remember to check the back. I tend to write things on the blank lines in each category, or in the margins when need-be.
