I use this list so often, that I decided to make the post "sticky" - it should now stay on top of the topics listing in the Home & Garden forum for easy reference!

All these years later, I still come back here to print this list out. It's particularly helpful around the holidays!

I write my grocery list in a spiral notebook. Each Wednesday when the grocery store inserts are in the newspaper, I make a list of sale items (ones that I use) in the notebook, grouped by store. I list the item, price & if it is bo/go. I often compare my coupons to the list and indicate with a "c" to the left of the item. At the top of the page I list the items we MUST have whether or not they are on sale. I usually go to Publix on Wednesday. If I remember to cut the coupon from the paper I get the item that is $.01 (one cent) as well as bo/go of items I use and items that I have coupons that will be doubled. Wednesday is "Senior" day and I get an additional 5% off the total bill. I really do some good shopping on Wednesday.

It sounds like you get some wonderful Wednesday deals, and what a great system for keeping things organized.

One other thing I do, I fold and tuck the grocery ads in the back of the notebook. If I go to Wal-Mart (or another local store) that ad-matches I have the ad with me in case they want to check it. Wal-Mart usually does not check the competitive ad, however the other store ALWAYS does! Each week when the ads come, I simply discard the ones from last week. I also use drug store ads (Wal-Green, CVS, RiteAid, etc) when doing competitive shopping at Wal-Mart.
I say I'm thrifty - my SIL says I'm stingy!
