I've been in the market for a new portable computer for a few months now as I've been looking for something small and simple which I could take with me on business trips, vacations, or even just the living room (I often have work to take care of in the evening, but still want to spend time with the other half) and so forth. After doing a lot of research on the up and coming netbooks ("netbook" is basically a term which means a small laptop), I decided to purchase the Toshiba Mini Notebook.
I like that it's light weight and easily portable (weighing in at just under three pounds), but still has a full size keyboard and track pad, and a great screen (the screen in all netbooks is small, but the display on the Toshiba's is crisp and clear, making it easier to read). It also has three built in USB ports, Bluetooth, a memory card reader (to use with cameras, and the like - I will be getting a lot of use out of it on my next vacation!), wireless and Ethernet Internet capabilities, audio and microphone ports, a built in Web camera, security lock, the ability to plug in a full size monitor, if you like; and a nine hour battery life! It also comes in a variety of great colors - I chose the blue one, and mother is considering the brown. I'm sure we'll get to try out the video conferencing at some point - great for those times in between visits.
The netbooks are about the same price everywhere I looked - Amazon, Best Buy, Costco, etc.; but I chose to purchase mine at Costco because they allow for 90 day full refunds (they even refund shipping costs!), they automatically add two years to the manufacturer's warranty which is a big plus with electronics, and they offer free customer support, so if there should ever be a problem, I can go directly to them, rather than being put on hold forever in a foreign country (thank you berry much)!
It's only been a couple of days, but so far, so good, and I couldn't be happier with it!
