A very good book to read!!
If you enjoy mysteries colored with a death; and if you enjoy a different presentation to your reading; and if you are interested in what it's like to live with someone who is in the autistic spectrum, I highly recommend HOUSE RULES by Joy Piccoult. The main character is in the autistic spectrum with Asperger's Syndrome, which is at the high end of autism. I live with a child who is very much like the main character. When I started reading his "voice" and his mother's "voice" I almost dropped the book. There before my eyes were elements of my grandson-son and the challenges I've had and he faces every day.
I say "his 'voice' and his mother's 'voice'" because each chapter is written in a different font and is that character talking. This I found to be intriguing.
The book is on the New York best seller, is long (about 350-450 pages), and difficult to put down (I read it in 1.5 days). I don't think you'll be disappointed at the format, story line, or information given about Asperger's. I am recommending it to teachers, too.
As always,
Trudy

Trudy, thank you for the book suggestion. One of my sister-in-laws is raising two boys who are in the autistic spectrum, and I will be sure to pass this reading on to her.

I'm so glad I posted it, Mad. I know it will help her; it has already helped me and I've had this child for 11 years. If she has any questions or need of talking to vent, please feel free to send her my e-mail address. I may not have all the answers (far from it), but I surely can listen and identify with her challenges and frustrations.
Blessings and smiles,
Trudy
