Trudy, this is so true. Personally the older I get the more I enjoy what we have. DH and I have each other and a wonderful son. We have a comfortable home. I enjoy good health and DH has reasonably good health, so we are thankful. Just yesterday we learned of another friend who, after a long struggle with alzheimers, died. This makes us even more thankful and we enjoy some things together and some things individually. I have learned that people are much more important than "stuff".

"Stuff", well most of it, can be replaced; but not the good people who have had a positive impact on my life. People who have had a negative effect on my life can be replaced by better; sort of like a rusty spoon by a silver one. The negative ones help you to NOT be what they are or to slough off their influence. Did you ever realize that the friends you choose are a reflection of yourself?

I wrote to Santa today. 'Told him I'd been naughty---it was worth it.

Trudy, I saw a set of paper napkins today which said that, along with another set: "Dear Santa, I can explain"

I like that; however, I would never explain. At my age, why should I?

Trudy, at my age I don't try to explain! I like the southern explanation that is given when older people err "bless her heart"!

Last week-end it was 4". It hasn't started yet this week-end. We're to have high winds and rain, though. Can't shovel rain.

Thank God, none for us! There is a possibility of flurries on Sunday night in northeast Alabama. Flurries are cause for excitement in this state.

I just adopted two parakeets from the local animal shelter. They're very sweet, and this is the second time they've been adopted out, as both previous owners could not keep them. After I quarantine them for about a month (to make sure they aren't sick), I'll introduce them to my cockatiel, who has been lonely since his cage mate passed away a few weeks ago. Right now they're resting, adjusting to their new environment.
