Petroleum Based Products

Did you know that products made out of petroleum, such as Vaseline, cannot be absorbed into your skin? Instead, the petroleum creates a thin film which simply sits on top of the skin. This is why it generally remains greasy (it doesn't soak in), and why products which contain it (including lotions, lip balms, and more) often need to be constantly re-applied (it simply rubs off). If you're looking for a better moisturizer or lip balm, consider those which contain plant derived moisturizers such as aloe, shea butter, olive oil, coconut oil, or jojoba oil. These are great for the skin, provide nutrients, and soak in to give you a real moisture boost!
