It is that time of year that the postal service wonders if there will be enough trees to take care of another round of paper. Did you know it takes twice as much wood pulp to make paper for cards? I was amazed when I read that. So, in order to save at least one tree’s life, I’m sending you this letter. It’s not one that will have you say, “Oh right. I’m sure all that goodness happened,” as so many of the seasonal letters do. This one will help you identify with life in the senior lane periodically marked by life in the fast lane.
Aging is becoming interesting and the older we get the more we believe it does mean the Golden Years. The gold goes to the doctors and dentist. We don’t always joyfully give it to them, though. I am grateful for the good health I’ve had this year, both physically and mentally. I didn't win any lottery; but I did win more smiles than I can count. I did take a fabulous trip to see a very dear friend. She and her husband helped me to see what it is like to not have any teenagers to hassle with, discipline, eat at one sitting in front of the television what you'd planned for 3 future dinners and then have the audacity to complain that there are no left-overs, and confirm the words to Trace Adkin's song EVERY LIGHT IN THE HOUSE IS ON is true. I'll never forgive these people.
There have been no fabulous moments to bring to the attention of others. Just waking up every morning is fabulous. I am grateful for each season and the "seasonings" which go with them. Well, the pollen season can just take a flying leap or I could maybe go to a frozen area until it's over. Sarah Palin's Alaska seems inviting.
A wise man from my life said at this time, “There is nothing more over than Christmas.” With that and the desire to be politically correct in what we say to others, I am wishing for you a lovely "MerryChristmashappybirthdayjesusholidayseasonhanu kkahkwanzaa". I hope it is filled with smiles, goodies to eat, and many warm memories to help you through the tough times.
As always,
Trudy![]()
