Cool One Size Fits Nobody: Seeking a Steady 4 or a 10

Wouldn't it be great to go into a store, and know which size should fit you best? I know I have a ton of trouble, being a different size in almost every store and brand, and having things fit differently in the chest or the waist, etc. According to this article by the NYT, one company now has a scanning device which will print out a free chart containing sizes which should fit you at various stores, and Levi's has reportedly come out with a new line of jeans which I'm interested in trying (currently, I don't own a single pair of jeans!). What do you think?

Sounds like a wonderful idea! Did you notice the very small sizes that were mentioned the most? HMMmmmm, I wonder if I would even fit in the scanner! LOL.

I know how you feel! Currently, it looks like they only have one location in PA, but the NYT article suggests that they will be setting up more elsewhere.

I know what you mean about the same number being a different size depending on brand, cut, etc. I have about 50 pairs of jeans (I buy them at the thrift store too often!) Tonight I was ironing some of my favorites - a size 6 Bill Blass, a size 10 Gloria Vanderbilt and a size 8 Lees! I was wearing a pair of size 8 Levis and DH mentioned that they really fit good! Since almost all the jeans at the thrift store are less than $3.00 I buy many too many! I do love to wear jeans and wear them just about everywhere except to church. My mother used to threaten to burn my jeans when I was in high school because they looked like they were painted on. Did you know you can lie on your back on the bed if you need to zip a really tight pair of jeans? Yes, I used to do that! I am and have always been a jeans & t-shirt (summer) Sweat shirt (winter) kind of gal. I will probably be buried in a pair of jeans & the appropriate shirt for the season. LOL

I've only ever owned a couple pairs of jeans in my life, the last pair being well over ten years ago. We had uniforms in school, and these days I've switched the plaid skirts out for slacks. I'd like to get a couple pairs of jeans, and I've tried some on, but have so much trouble finding the right fit (and don't want to pay for a tailor!)... I'm relatively short, trying to loose weight in the front, but I have hardly anything in the back! I'm wondering if the new Levi line might have something for me. Everything else is just too baggy back there.
