    Exclamation Earthquake

We just had an earthquake here in VA - 5.8 magnitude, and about 3.5 miles below the surface. They've evacuated the federal buildings, subways, train station, etc. Looks like it was felt all the way down to Atlanta, and as far north as Rhode Island. A lot of things fell over here in Northern VA, but only minor damage. Myself, my family, and my neighbors are all safe (though many do have a good bit of broken glass and broken dishes - in VA, our breakables are not secured for this type of event!).

I'm glad you're fine. Glassware can be replace; people can not.

So glad you are okay, MadCliker! I heard on the radio that people are being encouraged to check their foundations, basements, etc to make sure there is no damage there.

We've had a few aftershocks, but all is well here.

I was joking with DH, maybe having those crazy loud wall shaking neighbors above us helped prep our valuables for the earthquake here, as things were relatively secured already (this was after they knocked most of the items off of my fireplace mantel and knocked a vase off of my breakfast bar)! Trying to look at the bright side, which means there is one more - they moved out a couple weeks ago (of course, now we have people hammering and sawing upstairs, but at least we know that is temporary).

Still getting aftershocks, and now we're under a tropical storm watch, too. The parrots aren't happy, they keep looking out the window, trying to figure out who is shaking their cage. Poor little ones! I've been keeping a light on for them, so they don't get night fright and hurt themselves.

So... how is the weather where you are?

We've been upgraded to a tropical storm warning. You can have some of our rain, the ground is saturated here!
