Here's a game you can play anytime while on the road, or even make up as you go in the house! Many license plates have three or so letters in them, followed or proceeded by some number of numbers. This game has you take the three letters, and then try to find words which contain all of the three letters, in their original order, though not necessarily consecutively. For letters which are less common in the English language, you may agree to legal substitutions ahead of time, such as replacing 'Q' with 'O' or 'X' with 'T', etc.
Examples:
TME: Time
DLE: Diligent
CLS: Cancels
If no cars are available, the alternative of this game is to do what I just did - pick three letters pseudo-randomly, and start making up words from there!
